GREAT FALLS -- The University of Providence women's basketball team announced Tuesday morning that Jaynah Gopher will sign with the team.

Gopher graduated this spring from Rocky Boy High School. The 5-foot-10 guard averaged 14.9 points per game on 65 percent shooting from the field and was named all-conference this past season. As a sophomore, she helped her team to a District 1B championship and make school history by becoming the first team to qualify for the Class B state tournament. She also played volleyball for the Morning Stars.

"We're excited to add Jaynah to our team," head coach Bill Himmelberg said. "She is able to score the basketball and comes from a program that has a history of success. She is great in the classroom and will fit in well with our team. She will be a great addition to our campus."

Gopher was also named academic all-state all four years and was the valedictorian for the Class of 2020. She plans to study biology at Providence.
