Northern B girls: Harlem, Shelby, Fairfield, Malta advance to semifinals

SHELBY -- Harlem, Shelby, Fairfield and Malta each advanced to the semifinals after the first round of the Northern B girls basketball divisional tournament on Thursday.

Harlem 66, Choteau 46

Kailee Henry scored 23 points and L'Tia Lawrence added 13 points and eight assists as Harlem cruised past Choteau 66-46 to move to the semifinal round.

Harlem opened a double-digit lead in the first quarter and controlled the rest of the way, forcing 13 Bulldog turnovers.

Ada Bieler led Choteau with 16 points.

Shelby 48, Glasgow 42

Shelby began the game on a 15-2 run and held off a strong second-half comeback from Glasgow to win 48-42.

Glasgow trailed by 11 at halftime and cut the deficit to two points multiple times late in the fourth quarter, but Shelby made free throws down the stretch to hold on.

Maddison Underdal scored 22 points for Shelby and Brogan McAllister added 11. Tyann Graham scored nine for Glasgow. The Scotties will play Choteau in loser-out on Friday.

Fairfield 57, Wolf Point 36

Kenna Pitcher scored 25 points and Madison Rosenbaum added 10 as Fairfield beat defending state champion Wolf Point 57-36. Fairfield advances to the semifinals to play Malta.

Wolf Point hung around for the first three quarters, but Fairfield outscored the Wolves 18-4 in the fourth quarter to seal the game.

Jelle Garfield scored 12 for the Wolves, who will play Rocky Boy in loser-out action on Friday.
