HELENA -- In a stop and go game between the Helena Capital Bruins and Missoula Sentinel girls, the Bruins came out victorious 65-38.
The game opened at a near snail’s pace and neither team was able to get anything going offensively for about three minutes, but after that, Dani Bartsch led the way for the Bruins. Bartsch diced up the paint for 17 first-half points to put the Bruins on top 36-19 after two quarters.
The second half started much like the first, with neither team able to get anything going for almost four minutes to start the third quarter, but Mara McGinley was called upon later in the half and showed up. McGinley was a perfect 4-4 from beyond the arc in the second half to help push the Bruins out in front of the Spartans, 65-38.
Brooke Stayner led the Spartans with 13 points.
Dani Bartsch finished with 22 points and 18 rebounds. McGinley finished with 15 points, all of which came from beyond the arc.
The Bruins will look to avenge their only loss of the season next Tuesday when they host the Hellgate Knights at 7:15.
The Sentinel Spartans will try to bounce back next Friday when they host their crosstown rivals, the Big Sky Eagles at 7:30 p.m.
