BUTTE -- The Twin Bridges boys basketball team showed its undefeated dominance as the Falcons cruised past Lima in the opening round of the District 12C tournament 85-19 on Thursday night. They will now meet Sheridan in the semifinals after the Panthers had a huge comeback win against Ennis.
Down 36-22 at halftime, Sheridan outscored the Mustangs 36-16 in the second half to advance to the semifinals with 58-52 victory. Twin Bridges and Sheridan play Friday at 5 p.m. for a spot in the title game. They will meet the winner of Philipsburg and Harrison-Willow Creek.
On the girls side of the district tournament, Philipsburg started the day off with a 38-32 win over Lima. The Prospectors will meet Drummond in the semifinals Friday afternoon as the Trojans downed Harrison-Willow Creek 48-38 in the quarterfinals.
Along with the boys, the Twin Bridges girls also advanced to the semifinals after they defeated Sheridan 46-35. The Falcons will now meet the top seed in District 12C in the Ennis Mustangs. That showdown will tip off on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
