BILLINGS -- Once again, depth and defense carried Billings West's basketball girls to a win, this time avenging a loss to crosstown rival Billings Central, 49-36 on Tuesday.
Eleven players saw action for the Bears, who pulled away with a pair of 9-0 runs in the third and fourth quarters.
Central held a slim 14-12 lead after the first thanks to a Solei Elletson 3-pointer with three seconds left. The Bears wiped out a five-point deficit, sending it to halftime tied at 20.
Central score the opening basket of the third quarter before West reeled off a 9-0 run. The Rams closed it to 31-30 entering the fourth. West responded with its second 9-0 run of the half to even the season series after falling 52-44 at Central earlier this season.
Maddie Albrecht led West (7-3) in scoring with 11 points. Twin sister Willa was next with 10, pacing an even-scoring effort by the Bears. Defensively, West held Central to 31 percent shooting.
Olivia Moten-Schell led the Rams (10-2) in scoring with 11 points. It's Billings Central's second consecutive loss after opening the season 10-0.
