BILLINGS -- Reeling off a 12-0 run in the second quarter Friday night, Billings Skyview's basketball girls never trailed again on the way to a 54-43 road win at rival Senior High.
After a fast-paced opening quarter, the Falcons turned an 18-18 tie into a 30-18 lead midway through the second. That carried over to a 30-21 halftime lead, which Skyview increased to 41-28 after three quarters.
Brooke Berry led the Falcons in scoring with 17 points. M.G. Spotted Bear scored 11 and Jessi Henckel added eight.
"It was so much fun to go out there and have fun with all the girls," Henckel told MTN Sports afterward. "Senior is a really good team. I always enjoy playing them. It was really fun to be out there.
"I think we're making great improvements this year. Just being able to know our teammates and know what coach (Brent Montague) expects from us this year, it's been a lot of fun to see our improvement from last year and how much we've grown as a team."
Olivia LeBeau led the Broncs with 14 points -- eight of those in the fourth quarter.
Skyview is coming off its first playoff appearance in nearly two decades. The young Falcons didn't have a senior on last year's roster and showcase three this season. Senior's girls also rotate three seniors into this year's varsity lineup.
Skyview (3-2) faces the two Great Falls schools next week. Senior (2-2) has a quick turnaround at defending Class AA co-state champion Billings West Saturday at 2 p.m.
