BELT — In the long-awaited rematch of Class C girls basketball co-champions, the Belt Huskies didn't waste any time.
Alivia Shelton knocked down three 3-pointers in the first three minutes of the game and Belt never looked back, taking down Roy-Winifred 43-35 on Friday.
Shelton eventually made six 3s to finish with 18 points, and Lindsey Paulson added 15 points for the Huskies. Belt opened the game on a 12-2 run, but Roy-Winifred hung around with 12 points from Madeline Heggem and 11 from Trinity Edwards.
Belt improves to 6-0, while Roy-Winifred falls to 5-2.
In the boys game, Belt turned tenacious man-to-man defense into easy transition buckets en route to a 59-39 win over Roy-Winifred.
Aidan McDaniel put up 25 points for the Huskies, who improved to 6-0. Bridger Vogl scored 12 for Belt.
Justin Stulc and Brody Geer each scored 12 for the Outlaws, who fall to 5-1.
