DEER LODGE — Manhattan Christian and Twin Bridges will meet again. The District 12C rivals both earned semifinal wins at the Western C boys basketball divisional tournament on Friday to advance to Saturday's championship game.
MANHATTAN CHRISTIAN 75, HARRISON-WILLOW CREEK 35
Seth Amunrud poured in 17 points -- including five 3-pointers -- and Logan Leep added 16 as the Manhattan Christian boys stormed past Harrison-Willow Creek 75-35 in the Western C divisional semifinals on Friday to set up a championship rematch against Twin Bridges, which defeated the Eagles for the District 12C title and MC's only loss of the season so far.
The Eagles were firmly in control early against Harrison-Willow Creek, grabbing a 20-8 lead after one quarter and taking a commanding 44-15 lead into halftime.
Luke Cima led the Wildcats with eight points and Jackson Nye had seven. Harrison drops into a loser-out game on Saturday against Philipsburg.
The Eagles and Falcons are set to tip off in the divisional championship at 6 p.m.
TWIN BRIDGES 46, SHIELDS VALLEY 41
Charlie Kruer scored 18 points and Matthew Kaiser added 13 as the Twin Bridges boys held off a furious comeback bid by Shields Valley 46-41 in the Western C semifinals on Friday.
The Falcons opened the game with a 10-0 run before the Rebels trimmed the lead to 16-8 after the first quarter and 26-19 heading into halftime. Twin Bridges led 40-31 going into the final quarter before Shields Valley reeled off an 8-0 run to make it 40-39 and then took a 41-39 lead midway through the quarter. Kruer then hit a 3-pointer and the Falcons were up for good.
Kaden Acosta led Shields Valley with 18 points. The Rebels drop into a loser-out game on Saturday.
