BILLINGS — The Billings West Golden Bears turned a comfortable halftime lead into a blowout in five minutes Tuesday night.
West opened the third quarter on a 14-0 run, extending its lead to 27 points en route to a 64-43 Eastern AA boys basketball win over Billings Senior at the Golden Dome in the rivals' first meeting of 2020.
West led 35-22 after a strong first half. Logan Meyer and Neil Daily then extended that to 41-22 with back-to-back 3-pointers out of the break, followed by a lay-up from Paul Brott. Josh Erbacher, who led the Bears in scoring, then hit back-to-back 3s of his own to push the lead to 49-22 and put the game out of reach.
The win pushes West to 6-1 on the year, with its only loss coming to presumed Class AA favorite Missoula Hellgate. Senior falls to 2-4.
