BUTTE — Coming off a three-overtime buzzer-beater win over Dillon Thursday night the Frenchtown Broncs made the trip to the Mining City for another early season conference game against Butte Central Friday night.
The first quarter was a defensive battle that resulted in the Maroons holding a slim four-point lead after the first eight minutes of play. In the second quarter Frenchtown, behind outside shooting from Mason Pyron and Cade Baker, cut the halftime deficit to just four points.
But the second half was all Butte Central as its defense stayed relentless freeing up the transition game and perimeter shooting. Seniors Gator Yelenich, Luke Heaphy, Aaron Richards and company would put their team up close to 20 points and never looked back.
The Maroons would go on to win Friday's contest by a final score of 44-31. They'll hit the court at the MAC again Saturday for a game against Stevensville. Tipoff is at 4 p.m.
