HELENA -- The Missoula Hellgate Knights made the trip to Helena, and made it worth it with a win over the Bengals 44-28 on Jan. 9.
The Hellgate Knights and the Helena High battled through the first quarter with Bengals only trailing 10-8 after the quarter behind two three-pointers from Kaden Huot. The second quarter was a much different story for the Bengals, their offense fell silent to end the first half only scoring three points.
The Knights weren't out of arms reach after the first half, but had a 18-11 lead at the break thanks in part to six of Rollie Worster's game leading 21 points on the night. Through the second half, the Hellgate defense out gunned the Bengals offense, while the Bengals defense sent the Knights to the line for 15 attempts where they made 14 of them en route to the win.
The Missoula Hellgate girls completed the evening's sweep by beating the Helena High girls, 49-37.
The Helena High Bengals will get a chance to bounce back when they head to Butte to take on the Bulldogs on Jan. 11 at 3:30 p.m. and the Hellgate Knights will look to keep the momentum rolling when they face the Helena Capital Bruins, also on Jan. 11. The Bruins girls will host the Knights in Helena at 3:30, the boys will take to the court shortly after in Missoula at 4:15 p.m.
