WHITEHALL -- The Manhattan Christian girls and boys basketball teams got the sweep Friday night over Gardiner and they did so again Saturday against the Whitehall Trojans.

The Lady Eagles game was much closer than the boys. They took down the Trojans by a score of 51-48. For the second night in a row, Manhattan Christian’s Kiersten Van Kirk was the game-high leading scorer. She finished with 18 points, shooting 53 percent from the floor with seven rebounds.

MCHS ends the season with a 16-2 record and will be the number one seed in the district tournament and will have a bye in the first round.

Over in the boys game, the Eagles defeated the Trojans handily, 73-45.

After a rough shooting night yesterday against Gardiner, Manhattan Christian found there stroke early to jump out 36-17 lead by the half. They finished the night shooting 50 percent from the floor.

Josiah Amunrud was on fire tonight. He recorded a game-high 20 points, making 64 percent of his shots and hit 88 percent of his attempts from inside the 3-point line.

The Eagles finish the season with a 17-1 record and like the girls, will be the number one seed in the district tournament and have a bye.
