GREAT FALLS — Drew Wyman led four Bison players in double figures with 19 points to help Great Falls High (3-0) to a 61-34 boys basketball win over Great Falls CMR (1-2) on Thursday.

Reed Harris had 12 points while Levi Torgerson and Tarel Rollins each scored 11 points in the dominant performance.

The Rustlers had the early advantage, jumping out to a 13-5 lead in the first quarter before Great Falls High stormed back in the second to take a 25-17 lead to halftime. The Bison controlled the final 16 minutes.

Raef Newbrough led CMR with 10 points, Cole Taylor added six and Rogan Barnwell pitched in five to lead the Rustlers.

Due to COVID-19 protocols, all three sub-varsity games were postponed as members of the Bison underwent quarantine and contact tracing. The situation even led assistant coach Eric Chaon to fill in for longtime Bison head man Bob Howard.

But Great Falls High didn’t miss a step despite the less-than-optimal circumstances.

“We had heard rumors but didn’t know if it was real, but (Wednesday) night we got a call from coach Chaon and he told us the news (about the quarantine),” Torgerson said. “It’s kind of tough on our program, not getting to watch the younger kids play, so hopefully it gets re-scheduled.”
