BELGRADE — The last Class AA basketball game in the Gallatin Valley was back in March when the state tournaments were canceled in the semifinals. Great Falls High's boys were close to making that game, but they finally kicked off the 2021 season at Belgrade on Tuesday.

Belgrade was looking to start off the year on the right foot under new head coach Luke Powers in its second season at the AA level. However, Great Falls looked like a team poised to get back and make noise in the state tournament.

The Bison looked unstoppable in the first half, as seniors Drew Wyman and Levi Torgerson scored the first 15 points of the game to give Great Falls a 15-0 lead. They finished the first half up 37-4.

Wyman finished the game with 21 points, 18 in the first half and Torgerson finished with 18 as the Bison defeated the Panthers 62-20.
