FORT BENTON — The Fort Benton girls and boys basketball teams continued their red-hot starts to the 2019-20 season, sweeping Chester-Joplin-Inverness at home on Thursday.
The Longhorn girls won 63-4. Fort Benton allowed just one field goal to CJI, a third-quarter layup to sophomore Averie Mattson. Ten Longhorns found their way into the scoring column, led by McKenzie Clark with 14 points.
The Fort Benton boys won 78-38. Garett Diekhans scored 21, while his younger brother Hayden scored 12. Kyle Harmon led CJI with 11 points.
Each Fort Benton team moves to 9-0 overall and 6-0 in District 9C play.
The CJI girls fall to 2-5 overall, 1-5 in conference.
The CJI boys fall to 4-5, 2-4 in conference.
