BILLINGS — It will be an all-Billings affair in Saturday's Eastern AA boys basketball championship game, after Billings Skyview rolled past Great Falls High 54-36 in the second semifinal of the day Friday at Alterowitz Gym.
The game was close into the second quarter when the Falcons started a 14-4 run to take a 28-15 lead into halftime. Julius Mims' one-handed dunk in transition got the pro-Skyview crowd on its feet, followed by Abe Seybert's acrobatic and-1 finish.
Great Falls caught fire from 3-point territory in the third, hitting four 3s to cut a once 15-point deficit down to seven. But Peyton Sanders hit a 3 for Skyview moments before the end of the quarter to extend the lead back to 41-31. The game never dipped below double digits again.
Mims and Camron Ketchum led all scorers with 14 points each, while Seybert added 11 for the Falcons. Drew Wyman led the Bison with 13, but the team struggled from the field, shooting just 12 of 45 (26.7 percent).
Skyview will play Billings West in the Eastern AA championship at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Great Falls High will play Billings Senior in a loser-out contest Saturday morning.
