HAVRE-- The Turner and North Star girls each punched their tickets to the semifinals, while the Fort Benton boys pushed their record to 20-0 to advance to the championship at the District 9C tournament in Havre on Thursday.
Fort Benton 71, North Star 52 (boys semifinal)
Garrett Diekhans scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help lead Fort Benton over North Star 71-52. Hayden Diekhans added 10 points and three steals. Caden Rettig led the Knights with 11 points and six assists.
Fort Benton advances to face No. 2 seed Chinook in the district championship.
Chinook 74, Big Sandy 34 (boys semifinal)
Reese Elliot had a monster game, leading Chinook to a 74-34 win over Big Sandy with 17 points, 19 rebounds and five blocks. Ethan Bell scored 22 to lead all scorers, while Hunter Neibaur scored nine points and dished out seven assists for the Sugarbeeters.
Ryan Roth scored 15 points to lead the Pioneers while Kade Strutz added 10 points. Chinook will play Fort Benton in the 9C championship on Friday.
Turner 45, Chester-Joplin-Inverness 39 (girls first round)
Shyan Krass scored 17 and added six blocks as the Turner girls held off Chester-Joplin-Inverness 45-39 in first-round action.
Laci Maloney added 11 for the Tornadoes, who advance to play North Star in the semifinal on Friday. Tatum Hull led the Hawks with 17 points. CJI will face Chinook in loser-out action on Friday.
North Star 61, Chinook 26 (girls first round)
North Star stormed out to a 23-point lead after the first quarter and never looked back, cruising to a 61-26 win over Chinook. Kaytlyn Domire notched a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Laynie Sattoriva added her own on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Allison Powell led the Sugarbeeters with five points.
