RONAN -- On Friday night the District 14C basketball tournaments continued with the semifinal games for both the girls and boys.
In the second boys semifinal, it was the Plains Horsemen facing off against the Hot Springs Savage Heat. From the opening tipoff the Horsemen set the trend of the game as Jake Weyers hit a 3-pointer to open the scoring. Hot Springs came down and responded right away with a 3-ball from Jack McAllister. As the game progressed, Weyers continued to hit from range, while Hot Springs picked up the majority of its points in the paint or on fast-break opportunities.
In the second half, the Plains defense locked down on the Savage Heat, winning the semifinal contest 70-46.
The Horsemen take on the St. Regis Tigers for the championship on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
