DEER LODGE — Every team’s goal is to bring back that illustrious state title, and the Deer Lodge Wardens are no exception.

But the community has already rallied behind this team, which captured its first district title since 2000 and its first trip back to state since winning the divisional tournament back in 2012. It's what they've been able to achieve so far this season that has the Wardens ready for whoever comes into their path. Their eyes are set on bringing back the state title, but they’re also ready to make more memories this weekend at the Class B state tournament in Butte.

“You’re not going to remember who scored 30 points. Maybe we stopped Huntley Project from scoring 48 points or something like that. Just having fun and playing basketball, I guess," said Deer Lodge sophomore Logan Nicholson.

“I’ll tell you this, we don’t fear any team at all," added head coach Dakota Norris. "Some nights I feel we’ll get matched up with and if we do lose then we’ll look back on it in a couple months and say that was a very special year.”

Deer Lodge, the second seed out of the Western B, will meet Three Forks, the second seed from the South, in a first-round game at 8 p.m. Thursday.
