BUTTE — The atmosphere, the electricity, and the intensity of the Butte crosstown basketball games speak for themselves. But this seasons boys game will have a different feel to it.

That's because Butte High head coach Matt Luedtke will get to experience his first taste of what the Butte crosstown game is all about. Luedtke has yet to experience a crosstown game of any sort in his coaching career. He’ll be pitted against Butte Central’s Brodie Kelly, who’s also looking forward to the matchup with a coach he’s yet to ever face.

“I love rivalry games. It’s always one of those things that adds a tournament atmosphere and there is really nothing like it," said Luedtke. "Usually there’s an electricity to the gym, so I’m excited. I know the kids are excited and hopefully we’ll be ready to go.”

“I think Matt’s an excellent coach and he did a good job putting together a good staff, and I think they’re going to have a really good team and a really bright future for their program," said Kelly.
