BUTTE — MacKenzie Tutty poured in a game-high 15 points and Kodie Hoagland added 14 as the Butte High girls used a big third quarter to pull away from Kalispell Flathead for a 48-35 victory at Ross J. Richardson Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams struggled to get momentum in the first quarter with Butte leading just 5-4 heading into the second. The Bulldogs (3-8) built a 20-14 halftime lead and then outscored the Braves (2-7) 20-7 in the third quarter to create enough cushion to ice the win.

Ashley Olson added 9 points for Butte and McCaul McCarthy scored 6. Flathead was led by 10 points from Clare Converse and 8 from Maddy Moy.

Bryson Sestrich erupted for a game-high 23 points and Dougie Peoples added 13 points as the Maroons pulled past the Blue Devils to improve to 7-5 overall and move to 4-4 in the Southwest A.

Corvallis was paced by 13 points from Tanner Jessop and 9 from Cole Trexler.

The win over the Blue Devils was the first of a three-game home stand for Central, which now hosts Livingston on Tuesday and Hamilton on Friday before closing out the regular season against Frenchtown next Saturday.
