BUTTE — For the 14th time in 16 seasons under head coach Brodie Kelly, Butte Central will represent the Mining City in the Class A boys basketball state tournament next week in Billings.

The road to bringing back a state title, however, will not be easy. But the Maroons will step into First Interstate Arena at MetraPark on Thursday for their matchup against Billings Central with loads of experience. Nine seniors will anchor the pursuit to a state title, and, regardless of the outcome next week, Braden Harrington and his classmates will always remember how special it was to be a Maroon.

"It’s been the best time of my life just getting to go play with my friends every day, compete with them and wear the Maroon jersey. Not a lot of people get to do that," said Harrington. "Say we’re from a school of 100 competing with schools that are five times, 10 times our size. I think the toughness instilled made me a better man in the long run.”

The Maroons and Rams will tip off at 3:30 p.m. on March 12 in the first round of the state tournament.
