BILLINGS -- Jacksen Burckley tied a career-high with 27 points Friday night in helping Billings Senior back from a slow start to beat Belgrade 57-48 in Eastern AA boys basketball action.
Burckley's NBA-range 3-pointer in the third quarter gave Senior its first lead of the night after Belgrade led the first half wire-to-wire for a four-point lead at intermission.
The teams traded early punches in the third quarter before Burckley buried his deep 3 for a 30-29 lead. The big man's most impressive sequence was a follow-shot layup, a stolen pass near mid-court, then a dribble-drive spin move layup.
"I saw them throw that slow, cross-court pass and I knew I could go steal it," Burckley recalled to MTN Sports after the game. "I just saw the spin move was there so I spun out of it. I was honestly going to try to dunk it, but Ta'Veus (Panthers guard Randall) was there, so I couldn't."
The Broncs (2-1) play next at Billings Skyview Tuesday night.
