GREAT FALLS – The Great Falls CMR girls basketball team rode a dominant defensive performance to a 38-25 crosstown victory over rival Great Falls High on Thursday.
The Rustlers allowed only one field goal for the first 14 minutes of the game and built a 17-4 lead until Great Falls High scored six points in the final two minutes of the half to cut the lead to 17-10 at the break.
The Bison cut the lead to six at one point in the third quarter before CMR went on a big run and pushed the lead to as many as 24 points.
CMR's Allie Olsen blocked six shots, effectively owning the paint. CMR moves to 4-3 overall with a 2-0 mark in Eastern AA play. Great Falls High drops to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in conference.
Both teams take a weeklong break before returning to action against Billings Skyview and Billings Senior next weekend.
