GREAT FALLS — University of Providence wrestling head coach Caleb Schaeffer announced the signing of Dayton Evans, who will compete with the Argos in the 133-pound weight class.

Evans, a native from Great Falls, has spent the past seven years in Missoula and will graduate from Big Sky High School. As an Eagle, Evans was a multi-sport athlete, lettering in tennis, football and wrestling. On the mat, he was a three-time state qualifier, only missing qualification his sophomore year due to an injury. Evans placed sixth in the Class AA 103-pound weight class as a freshman.

“I am eager to be a part of the Argo family, to learn from the coaches and wrestlers and to push myself to improve my wrestling,” said Evans.

During his senior season, Evans received the team’s Most Courageous Wrestling award. In the classroom, Evans has held a 3.6 GPA during his time at Big Sky High School.

“Dayton will join his cousin Casey Dobson on our team,” said Schaeffer. “We are excited to have family members be a part of our team. Evans will add extra depth to our 133-pound weight class, which will be a very valuable asset for us next season.”
