Montana wrestlers to compete at 1st NAIA Women’s Invitational

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The NAIA Women’s Wrestling Invitational is set for Saturday, March 16 at the Harold Newman Arena in Jamestown, North Dakota.

Five wrestlers with Montana ties are scheduled to compete.

East Helena native Alyssa Schrull wrestles for Jamestown University and will enter the tournament with a No. 8 seed at 170 pounds. Billings West grad Glory Konecny will wrestle for Southern Oregon in the 116-pound bracket.

Three wrestlers from the University of Providence in Great Falls will also compete.

Yurie Yoneoka will compete in the 116-pound bracket, Dajan Treder will compete at 123 pounds, and Jenna Awana rounds out the field competing in the 136-pound bracket.

Yoneoka enters the tournament with a 9-2 record. Yoneoka will open the tournament with a first-round bye, before matching up against Jessienna Burkett-Erice of Lyon College.

Treder carries an 11-1 record into the NAIA Invitational. She receives a first-round bye and will take on Arianna Marrufo from tournament host, the University of Jamestown, during the first round.

Awana, 3-1, also received a first-round bye and will take on Destiny Lyng of Oklahoma City University to begin the tournament.

Tickets are available for $15 for adults and $10 for students. The invitational will be live-streamed through Flowrestling, however the live-stream won’t begin until 10 a.m.
