Providence Argos hockey drops overtime contest at Montana State

BOZEMAN — The No. 11 University of Providence Argos (8-6-1) dropped a 3-2 overtime contest to the No. 10 Montana State Bobcats (10-8) on Thursday night.

Cody Hendrickson and Josh Larson both netted a score each, while Larson also tallied an assist in the loss. Jeron Hirschfeld, Kyler Mack and Eric Gatson earned an assist apiece.

The Argos opened up the scoring with 11 seconds remaining in the opening period, as Larson and Hirschfeld delivered a puck to Hendrickson to give the Argos a one-point advantage at the first break, 1-0.

The second period was all Bobcats as they tallied a goal at the six-minute mark to tie up the match at one, and then netted a second goal with three minutes to go, taking the lead headed into the third period, 2-1.

Slightly over a minute into the final period, Larson collected a puck from Gatson and Mack to sink the tying goal to bring the game even at two.

The third period would eventually end without another score to head into an overtime period.

The Bobcats were able to net the game winner at the 3:56-minute mark of the overtime period to take the 3-2 victory over the Argos.
