The No. 23 Providence men knocked off No. 10 Lewis-Clark State, 89-76, on Friday to improve to 11-3 overall with a 2-1 mark in the Frontier Conference.

Jalen Shepard led the Argos in scoring with 23 points, with freshman post Jaxen Hashley adding 22. Brandon Cotton added 19 points in the win.

The Argos will host Montana-Western on Saturday night. It’s the first time Providence head coach Steve Keller will face the team he coached for 11 years, before taking the job in Great Falls in the offseason.

WOMEN: Lewis-Clark State 65, Providence 63

The No. 13 Providence women dropped a back and forth contest against No. 16 LC-State, 65-63, Friday night in Great Falls.

Free throws were the difference, as the Argos went just 6-of-12 from the charity stripe with several key misses in the fourth quarter.

Kennedy Cartwright led all scorers with 16 points in defeat but missed a potential game winning 3-pointer as time expired in regulation.
