Rocky Mountain College women break 1,600-meter relay school record

GREAT FALLS – Rocky Mountain College’s performance at the University of Providence Open was highlighted by the women’s 1,600-meter relay squad. Bailey Bard, Ruth Chepsat, Corinne Hamilton and Carrie Cota combined for a time of 4 minutes, 13.99 seconds to set the school record. The team finished in second.

Chepsat, who ran the fourth leg of the relay, didn’t stop there. She finished first in the 1,500-meter run with a personal-best time of 4:53.30. In the 800, Hamilton finished in first place with a time of 2:25.23, while Cota finished right behind her in second with a time of 2:27.94.

On the men’s side, Joseph Vanden Bos ran 1:57.91 to finish first in the men’s 800-meter run. Elijah Boyd finished in second with a time of 2:00.97, while Gino Giovagnoli took third in 2:04.79.

In the 400, Lawrence Bryant ran a personal-best time of 52.71 to finish second. Jackson Duffey also picked up a second-place finish with a time of 4:15.63 in the 1,500.

Elijah Barkell threw for a distance of 11.58 meters (38 feet) in the shot put to finish fourth, and marked a distance of 39.82 meters (130 feet, 8 inches) in the hammer throw to finish third. Both counted as personal bests.
