Rocky Mountain College wins two distance races at Montana Open

MISSOULA – A pair of first place performances highlighted Rocky Mountain College’s performances at the Montana Open in Missoula, Mont.

Finishing 24 seconds ahead of the next runner, Jackson Duffey won the men’s 5000m race on a time of 15:17.22. Ruth Chepsat took home Rocky’s other first place performance with a time of 4:53.86 in the women’s 1500m.

Several Battlin’ Bears recorded personal best performances to break school records that they had previously set earlier in the year. Finishing second in the women’s 4×400 meter relay, Bailey Bard, Carrie Cota, Jatinas Sattoriva, and Corinne Hamilton extended their most recent school record to a time of 4:14.64. They had previously broken the school on a time of 4:18.06 at the War 12 last week. Bard also broke her school record in the women’s long jump with a distance of 4.87m/15’11.75″. Michael Lee extended his records with a pair of fourth place finishes. The freshman finished fourth in the men’s shot put with a distance of 14.77m/48’5.5″ and fourth in the men’s discus with a distance of 44.03m/144’5″.

Bard placed fourth in the women’s 200m on a time of 27.47 while Leaming took fifth on the men’s side on a time of 22.50. Leaming also placed fourth in the men’s 100m with a time of 11.21.

Placing third in the men’s 800m, Joseph Vanden Bos ran a time of 1:54.66. Cota took fourth for the women’s 800m on a time of 2:24.48.
