Rocky Mountain College men claim regional giant slalom title

RED LODGE – Securing the giant slalom team title, Rocky Mountain College’s men’s ski racing team took the top four spots at the 2019 USCSA Western Regional Championships.

The Battlin’ Bears finished in first with a total team time of 4:55.63 and 12 place points. College of Idaho took second followed by University of Colorado Boulder in third.

Andraz Reich-Pogladic won the competition with a combined time of 1:36.22. Sitting on a run of 47.60, the senior from Velerje, Slovenia finished his second trip down in 48.62.

Finishing right behind his teammate, Sean McCormick took second with runs of 47.74 and 49.46 for a combined time of 1:37.20. Esten Falksete finished in third with a total time of 1:37.31 on runs of 48.05 and 49.26.

Rounding out Rocky’s top finishers, Oscar Dalmalm finished in fourth with a combined time of 1:38.96 after a first run of 48.78.

The USCSA Westerrn Regional Championships will wrap up tomorrow with the men’s and women’s slalom races. The top four teams will advance to the USCSA National Championships on March 10-16.
