Emeline LaFarge leads Rocky Mountain College to Giant Slalom USCSA Regionals win

RED LODGE – Senior Emeline LaFarge won the Giant Slalom individual title, which helped Rocky Mountain College win the women’s team title at the USCSA Western Regionals Thursday at Red Lodge Mountain.

LaFarge finished her two runs in a combined 1:42.08, beating Kate Hanson by .73 seconds. LaFarge led by just .03 after the first run, but then blazed down the Lower Limited hill in 49.67 seconds, the only woman to go sub-50 on either run.

Rocky’s Hannah Clancy finished 6th in 1:44.81, while Carina Bracy finished 14th at 1:47.17. The Bears accrued 16 team points, easily beating second place Western State Colorado University who finished with 25.

The top four schools move on to the 2019 USCSA National Championships in Jackson, Wyoming from March 10-16. The men’s Giant Slalom is schedule for Friday in Red Lodge, while the men’s and women’s Slalom competitions will be held Saturday.
