Rocky Mountain College hits two NAIA qualifying marks in Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A pair of strong performances by Elijah Boyd at the Colorado Running Company Mountain Lion Open Feb. 8-9 will send him to the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.

Elijah Boyd, Brenden Leaming, Joseph Vanden Bos, and Isaac Petsch ran a time of 10:28.69 in the men’s 4000m DMR on Friday. With an altitude adjusted time of 10:15.89, the team hits the NAIA “A” mark.

Boyd followed it up with a solo qualifying mark Saturday in the men’s 800m. Finishing in 2nd place, Boyd’s 1:57.58 counted as a NAIA “B” standard.

Elsewhere, Rocky’s Brenden Leaming took second in the men’s 400m with a time of 51.27 Saturday.

In the women’s 5000m Friday, Courtney Hallock finished in sixth with a total time of 20:20.52.

Bailey Bard finished in 12th for the women’s 400m with a time of 1:03.98 on Saturday. The junior finished in ninth in the women’s long jump with a mark of 4.71m/15’5.5″.
