Rocky Mountain College skiers find success in opener

BIG SKY – The Rocky Mountain College ski team began the 2019 season competing in WR Tech Elite FIS at the Big Sky Resort for the past five days.

For the men, the weekend was highlighted by second and third place finishes in the Giant Slalom on Friday. After an initial run of 1:02.22, the fastest of the event, Sean McCormick took second on a combined time of 2:05.10. Esten Falkstete finished in third on a combined time of 2:05.15 after finishing in fourth the day prior with a total time of 2:09.37.

Adam Garrigus placed in 56th on Friday with a total time 2:14.77. Cooper Mann moved up to 59th on a time of 2:16.15 after finishing 60th on Thursday.

After finishing fifth in the Slalom on Saturday with a combined time of 1:37.99, Falkstete took fourth on Sunday with runs of 49.27 and 50.97 to finish at 1:40.24. McCormick finished in 14th on Sunday with a combined time of 1:43.13.

Garrigus placed 30th Saturday on a total time of 1:43.56 and 33rd on Sunday. Mann improved from a 62nd finish on Saturday to a 47th place finish.

In the Slalom for the women, Emeline LaFarge finished the Sunday in 21st after not completing her second run the day prior. Sitting on an initial run of 55.51, LaFarge completed her second trip down the hill in 59.13. Hannah Clancy took 42nd with a total time of 2:00.52.

After finishing her first run in the Giant Slalom in 1:10.37, LaFarge recorded a second run of 1:09.78 to finish in 39th on Monday. She finished in 43rd Tuesday. Clancy finished in 43rd and 55th over the course of the two days.
