BILLINGS – Maybe it’ll prove to be a season-defining win for Rocky Mountain College’s basketball women.

After leaping out to a red-hot start at 9-1 this season, the Battlin’ Bears are since 4-4. But their most recent win Saturday, 68-58 at 16th-ranked Lewis-Clark State, may be the one that reignites a dominant stretch.

“Honestly, it was huge for us,” forward Justyn Juhl told MTN Sports. “Just to prove to ourselves that we can pull out a win like that. And, L-C is such a good team.”

Forward Markaela Francis agreed.

“That was a big one for us just to prove we can bounce back from a heavy loss, like we suffered at Western,” she said. “I think that was a really big one for us mentally.”

Now, players are eager to see what they do with it.

“We knew that was going to put us in a really good spot for the rest of the season,” said forward Brooke Jones. “Just looking at how the other teams in the conference have been doing so far, we’re sitting in a pretty good spot.”

Rocky hosts Carroll College Thursday for the second time in two weeks. The women are scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m., with the men following at 7:30.
