Rocky Mountain College hosts nationally-ranked Carroll College in Thursday doubleheader

BILLINGS – Rocky Mountain College will host a doubleheader against the Carroll College Fighting Saints tomorrow on Jan. 3. This will mark the first conference match-up for the Battlin’ Bears since Dec. 1.

The woman’s game will tip off at 5:30 p.m. The No. 22 ranked Battlin’ Bears gear up to take on the No. 8 ranked Saints. Rocky enters the game ranked No. 2 in scoring defense per game in comparison to Carroll’s No. 7 ranked scoring defense per game.

Rocky is led by senior guard Alecia Chamberlin who leads the team in both scoring and rebounds with 191 total points and 69 boards. Freshman guard Kloie Thatcher leads the team in steals and rebounds with 62 assists and 24 steals. Thatcher is ranked No. 15 in total assists. Carroll College is powered by Hannah Dean who leads the teams in scoring, assists, rebounds, and steals.

The men’s game will begin at 7:30 p.m. The Battlin’ Bears will face the challenge of going up against the No. 3 ranked team in the nation tomorrow evening. The Saints are one of the best teams from beyond the arc in the NAIA Division 1 with a No. 1 ranking in three point field goal percentage on top of a No. 3 ranking in field goal percentage. They will have to contend with a tough Rocky defense that is ranked No. 3 in total steals and No. 12 in total rebound defense.

Rocky will rely on Jared Samuelson, the Frontier Conference leader in scoring and total rebounds, who is ranked No. 3 in total scoring. Carroll College will look to the current Frontier Conference Player of the Week, Matt Wyman. Wyman is ranked No. 7 in total scoring.

Samuelson and Wyman are tied with Providence’s Jaxen Hashley for the most double doubles in the conference this year. All three average three double doubles.
