BILLINGS – The Rocky Mountain College Battlin’ Bears completed a perfect run in the Hampton Inn Green and Gold Classic Saturday night, sweeping Dickinson State in their final non-conference basketball games of the season.
The No. 18-ranked Battlin’ Bears women secured a 76-37 victory in the opener. An immediate 7-0 run powered the Battlin’ Bears to a 20-point lead at the half. Rocky was able to maintain that distance for the rest of the game.
Alecia Chamberlin scored 14 points with five steals to lead the Battlin’ Bears in both categories. Justyn Juhl scored 12 points while Alyssa Big Man contributed an additional 11. Both Markaela Francis and Brooke Jones provided nine points and five rebounds.
Rocky’s men finished a season sweep of the Dickinson State with a 91-52 win in the late game. The Bears shot 51.5 percent from the field and 52.4 percent from beyond the arc.
Jared Samuelson led the team in scoring with 29 points. Craig Wilmore contributed an additional 12. 41 of Rocky’s points came from off the bench.
The men improve to 10-4 overall, while the women jump to 11-3. The Battlin’ Bears will stay home to resume conference play against Carroll College next week on Jan. 3. The women will tip off at 5:30 p.m, with the men scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
