Rocky Mountain College women cruise to victory over The King’s University

BILLINGS – Playing in the 2018 Hampton Inn Green and Gold Classic, Rocky Mountain College defeated The King’s University 90-41.

The Battlin’ Bears jumped ahead early in the first period and managed to outpace the Eagles the rest of the game.

Five Battlin’ Bears scored in the double digits. Shooting 72.7% from the floor,  Brooke Jones led the team with 17 points. Kloie Thatcher scored 15 points with 3 assists. The trio of Justyn Juhl, Markaela Francis, and Alecia Chamberlin provided 14 points apiece.

Juhl and Francis each pulled in nine rebounds.

Rocky scored 21 points off of turnovers with a 14-8 advantage in steals. Justyn Juhl led the team with five steals while Jones, Thatcher, and Antuanisha Wright each pulled in three.

Rocky put the game to bed with a 26-2 outburst in the second quarter. The Battlin’ Bears were never threatened after halftime.

The Battlin’ Bears shot 52.5 percent from the floor and 31.6 percent from beyond the arc.

The Eagles were led by Marta Burchett who scored 15 points and six rebounds.

The 2018 Hampton Inn Green and Gold Classic will continue tomorrow. After a pair of games between Montana Western and The King’s University, the Battlin’ Bears will host Dickinson State at 5:30 p.m.
