Rocky Mountain College returns to hardwood for Green and Gold Classic

BILLINGS – Rocky Mountain College will host the Green and Gold Classic on Dec. 28-29. The Battlin’ Bears will join Montana Western, Dickinson State University, and The King’s University for eight basketball games over the course of the two days.

Montana Western’s women’s basketball team will kick-start the affair with a game against Dickinson State at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. The men’s teams will follow with a game of their own at 3:30 p.m.

Rocky Mountain College’s women’s basketball team will play The King’s University at 5:30 p.m. The men’s basketball team will finish up the day with a game against the Eagles from Edmonton, Alberta at 7:30 p.m.

Montana Western will play The King’s University at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Following those games, Rocky will play Dickinson State at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Rocky Mountain College’s women’s basketball team is ranked No. 2 in scoring defense per game and No. 4 in field goal percentage. The Battlin’ Bears are fresh off a pair of losses in the 2018 Phoenix Frontier Classic against No. 12 Our Lady of the Lake and University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. The Battlin’ Bears are 9-3 overall and 2-0 in the Frontier Conference.

Rocky’s men’s basketball team is currently ranked No. 5 in offensive rebounds per game and No. 7 in scoring margin. They will look to junior forward Jared Samuelson who is currently ranked No. 7 in points per game and No. 11 in total scoring among the NAIA Division 1. The Battlin’ Bears lost their most recent game against Benedictine Mesa on a half court buzzer beater in the final second during the 2018 Cactus Classic. Rocky sits at 8-4 on the season and 1-1 in the Frontier Conference.
