Rocky Mountain College falls to Our Lady of the Lake, 75-63

CHANDLER, Ariz. – A 75-63 loss to the No. 12 ranked Our Lady of the Lake Saints snapped a six game win streak for the No. 18 ranked Battlin’ Bears during the second day of the 2018 Phoenix Frontier Classic.

The Battlin’ Bears were unable to build any sort of momentum against the Saints who sustained a lead for nearly all of the game.

Rocky turned the ball on 20 different occasions and Our Lady of the Lake held a 10-5 advantage in steals with only 11 turnovers over their own.

Brooke Jones, Alecia Chamberlin, and Markaela Francis accounted for 46 of Rocky’s 63 points. Jones posted 19 points and six rebounds on the night. Chamberlin scored 15 points and five rebounds. Francis scored 12 points with five rebounds and three assists.

The Battlin’ Bears shot a 39.6 field goal percentage, but sank only 22.2 percent from beyond the arc. In comparison, the Saints shot a 38.2 field goal percentage, but were good for 37.5 percent on three pointers.

Both teams were nearly even in terms of rebounds with the Battlin’ Bears holding only a 39-38 rebound advantage.

The Saints were led by the pair of Destinee King and Kasey Saldana who both scored 18 points.

Rocky will finish the 2018 Phoenix Frontier Classic with a game against Science & Arts tomorrow. That game will take place in Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Chandler, Ariz., at 8 p.m.
