Rocky Mountain College’s Hailey Copinga named Frontier Player of Year; Kelly, Hilderman honored

WHITEFISH – Rocky Mountain College’s Hailey Copinga was named the Frontier Conference’s Volleyball Player of the Year Sunday, while setter Natalie Hilderman and head coach Laurie Kelly also received season-long honors.

Copinga, a senior right side hitter from Billings Skyview, has posted a team-high 351 kills. She also provided a valuable defensive presence with 443 digs in addition to 116 total blocks.

Hilderman was named the Frontier Conference’s Volleyball Setter of the Year. The sophomore from Red Lodge emerged this season as one of the NAIA’s top setters, with a conference-high 1130 assists.

Kelly meanwhile was named the conference’s Coach of the Year, as she led the No. 8 Battlin’ Bears recorded to a 28-4 record, including 18 sweeps this season.

Rocky will likely obtain an at-large berth for the 2018 Women’s Volleyball Championship when the NAIA announces the championship qualifiers on Monday. That announcement will take place on the Play NAIA Facebook page at 9:00 a.m.
