BILLINGS – In a battle at the top of the Cascade Conference standings, the No. 11 ranked Rocky Mountain College Battlin’ Bears (10-3, 6-2 CCC) fell to the No. 15 ranked Corban Warriors (10-1-1, 7-0-1 CCC) 2-0 Friday afternoon at Wendy’s Field.
Corban stayed unbeaten atop the conference, and snapped Rocky’s six-game winning streak.
The Warriors opened the scoring in the 28th minute as Kohl Hurtado got onto a long clearance and toe-poked it past an on-rushing Kristofer Wennin into Rocky’s net. Levan Zhividze sealed the win with a goal in the 78th minute off an assist from Travez White.
Corban’s Jordan Salim made six saves in the shutout.
Rocky’s women meanwhile overcame an early deficit to beat Corban for their second straight Cascade win in the first game Friday’s double-header.
Rylee Macdonald opened the scoring for Corban with a goal in the ninth minute. Rocky’s Mhari Smith took a ball from Amber Pearson and tied the game for the Battlin’ Bears in the 22nd minute, and Emily Browne scored what would be the game-winner in the 45th off an assist from Tiara Duford.
