SPOKANE, Wash. – Rocky’s men and women won their fourth tournament in as many tries this year Tuesday at the Lilac Collegiate Tournament in Spokane.

Rocky’s 14th-ranked men combined to shoot a 15-over-par 575.

Coming off an unbelievable outing at the Battlin’ Bears Invitational, Rocky’s Reece Nilsen once again earned individual medalist honors in a tight contest that led to a playoff.

North Idaho Community College’s Nick Roberts, Lewis-Clark State’s Travis Hansen, and Nilsen all tied for first after shooting an even-par 140. In a playoff at hole 18, Roberts shot par while Nilsen and Hansen birdied. With Roberts out, Nilsen and Hansen faced each other again. Hansen birdied, but Nilsen eagled to take home the win.

Mitchell Thiessen came in fourth place after shooting 1-over-par 141. His round one score of 68 was the lowest of the invitational for the Battlin’ Bears. Michael Tait shot 4-over-par 144 to tie for seventh. Colton Murphy tied for 26th with an overall score of 150. HoTae Kim came in 38th place with an overall score of 153.

Rocky’s women had five golfers finish in the top ten, in addition to the top three scores.

Hayden Flohr earned individual medalist honors for the second time this year after shooting a 2-over-par 146. Her round two score of 72 was the lowest at the invitational.

Anna DeMars and Eryn Ellis tied each other with an overall score of 152 as they shot 8-over-par. During round one, DeMars shot 75 and Ellis shot 77. They flipped those scores on round two to tie for second place. Amanda Conner shot an 11-over-par 155 to place in sixth place. Morgan O’Neil tied for tenth as she shot 14-over-par 158.

This is the fourth win for the Battlin’ Bears.
