BILLINGS – The Rocky Mountain College men and the Carroll College women each got second-half goals to break 1-1 halftime ties on their way to wins Friday night at Herb Klindt Field.

Nolan Sherwood scored his Cascade Collegiate Conference-leading ninth goal of the season on an assist from Tulio Melo in the 62nd minute for the game-winner. Paulo Georgiades gave Carroll a 1-0 lead in the eight minute, before Billings Senior alum Mason Luse evened for Rocky in the 25th.

The No. 13 Battlin’ Bears move to 5-1-0 in conference, third place behind Southern Oregon and Corban, who are tied at 5-0-1. It’s Rocky’s fifth straight win.

The Bears women got off to one of the fastest starts in program history, as Mhari Smith scored 11 seconds into the nightcap to take a 1-0 lead over the conference-leading Saints. McKenna Payne evened the game at 1-1 with a 47-yard free kick that snuck into the top left corner over the outstretched hands of Rocky keeper Samantha Kelley.

Lizzie Sheldon tallied the game-winner in the 58th minute to give Carroll’s women their fifth straight win. They stay alone atop the Cascade at 5-0-1, while Rocky falls to 0-4-1.

Both schools are back in action Sunday. The Saints head to the College of Idaho, while Rocky will host the University of Providence.
