Rocky Mountain College sweeps team titles at Argo Invitational

GREAT FALLS – Both the Rocky Mountain College men’s and women’s golf teams won team titles at the Argo Invitational Tuesday. This is the second dual victory for the two programs in as many contests.

Rocky’s women finished two rounds of play with a total score of 623. The Battlin’ Bears shot 311 in the first round and 312 in the second.

Senior Eryn Ellis won individual medalist honors after shooting a 152 (+8). Her first round score 75 was the lowest round of the tournament. Anna DeMars shot 155 to place her in third; Morgan O’Neil tied for fifth after shooting 159; Hayden Flohr shot 160, while Kaelyn Volk’s 161 placed her right behind Flohr in eighth place.

The Rocky men finished three rounds of play with a winning score of 872 (292-287-293). The Battlin’ Bears were led by Michael Tait who finished in third with a 215 total (-1). Colton Murphy finished one shot behind in fourth (216) with Reece Nilsen two shots behind him (218) in fifth.

Mitchell Thiessen tied for seventh with a score of 223 while Schaefer Paldichuk tied for ninth with a score of 224.

Montana Tech’s Sean Benson finished second with a -2, 214 total. Lewis-Clark State’s Travis Hansen won medalist honors with a 211.

Rocky will next host the Battlin’ Bears Invitational on the Yegen Golf Course in Billings on Oct. 1-2.
