DILLON – The Montana Western Bulldogs took to Straugh Gymnasium today due to weather for their first official spring football practice of 2019.

The recent snowfall may have kept the Bulldogs indoors today, but they were still able to get a lot accomplished in the split defense/offense practices. Montana Western will welcome back a good crop of returners, but will still boast one of the youngest roster in the Frontier conference. Despite their youth, the experience the seniors, juniors, and sophomores bring from last year will really help the transition of transfer players joining the 2019 squad. Fundamentals and correcting problems from last year is a big emphasis for the Bulldogs during spring ball, but head coach Ryan Nourse has full confidence in his team’s ability to improve everyday.

“Really good you know we’ve been doing meetings and work and stuff. We’ve been able to get some position stuff done in the mornings,” said head coach Ryan Nourse. “So this is a really good group of guys for how young they are they’re very mature, they’re very work-man like. So you know they came in here and I think our coaches are doing a really good job letting them know what we’re gonna be working on, how we’re gonna do it.”

“It was good. I mean we didn’t get to do a whole lot obviously it was more learning and teaching young guys being inside, but guys are excited they’re ready to get outside,” said defensive coordinator Rob Goode. “We’re ready to get out with them.”
