Montana Western women win at Montana Tech, push win streak to 7

BUTTE – No. 3 Montana Western could not be stopped as the Orediggers fall 70-57.

Montana Tech (12-10, 2-9) trailed 43-23 at the half, but clawed its way back in the third, shrinking the deficit to 51-42.

The Orediggers shot 46.4 percent in the second half after hitting 32.1 percent in the first. The team finished 8 of 9 from the free throw line.

The Bulldogs shot 42.6 percent from the field in the game and took advantage at the charity stripe hitting 17 of 19 from the line.

Western outrebounded Tech 40-27.

Kaylee Zard, Hailey Crawford and Mollie Peoples had 11 points apiece.

Zard completed a double-double with 10 rebounds and added 3 steals.

Mesa Williams had 9 points and 3 assists.

Brianna King led the Bulldogs with 21 points and 7 rebounds.

The Orediggers have another quick turnaround hitting the road for Lewiston, Idaho. Lewis-Clark State hosts Montana Tech Thursday.
