Montana Western’s Brianna King wins 2nd conference honor of the season

WHITEFISH — Brianna King of the University of Montana Western has been selected as the Frontier Conference’s women’s basketball player of the week.

King is a 5-foot-5 senior guard from Spokane, Wash. No. 9 Montana Western won all three of its games at the Phoenix Frontier Classic, including wins over two top-15 opponents. The Bulldogs beat No. 12 Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) 59-57, Benedictine-Mesa (Ariz.) 94-51 and No. 14 Menlo (Calif.) 73-64.

King averaged 25.7 points, three rebounds, five assists and 3.3 steals. She was 25 of 55 from the field, including 11 of 26 on 3-point field goals and 16 of 20 (80 percent) from the free throw line. She led the tournament in points, assists and steals.

This is the second time this season that King has won he award.
