DILLON — Junior Savanna Bignell scored a career-high 19 points to lead the No. 9 Montana Western Bulldogs (3-0) over The College of Idaho Yotes (0-2) 80-55 Saturday afternoon at Straugh Gymnasium.

For the second straight game the Bulldogs started slow, but a couple late 3s built the Bulldog lead to 20-8 after the first quarter. Bignell provided a spark off the bench and scored her game-high 19 points on 7-10 shooting, including a 4-5 performance from downtown.

Putting the slow opening 10 minutes behind them, the Bulldogs started to click in the second quarter, taking a 44-24 lead into the intermission. The Bulldogs looked like they were going to cruise to another big victory, but the Yotes kept the game form getting out of hand. Every run that the Yotes made to try and get back into the game was answered by the Bulldogs, though, with Brandy Bookout and Shannon Worster hitting clutch shots from beyond the arc.

While the Bulldogs were making it rain from downtown, connecting on 12 daggers from beyond the arc, Britt Cooper was dominating the paint. She recorded her first double-double of the season, filling the stat sheet with 18 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks and an assist. Cierra Lamey scored 13 points and dished out four assists.

The Bulldogs will travel to Pueblo, Colo. to face NCAA Div II opponent Colorado State University – Pueblo on Nov. 16 and 17. Both games are set to start at 5 p.m. One game will be an exhibition match.
