DILLON – The Montana Western Bulldog volleyball team came into Saturday’s match against Providence riding an eight-game losing streak. The Argos looked to make it nine.
In the first set, Providence got up early with big returns and spikes that the Bulldogs just couldn’t seem to handle. Lauren Brown and Kelsey Shaver both contributed to the fast-producing Argos offense.
Defense, however, is what helped Western crawl back into this one. Ellen Wolferman made some key blocks up in front of the net for the Bulldogs, and some nice serves and returns from Kelsey Potter and Makenna Liveazy got the team down 24-22. That would be as close as the Bulldogs would get in the first set, as the Argos grabbed set point on the very next volley and would go on for the four-set win, 25-22, 21-25, 25-11, 25-17.
The Argos’ record improves to 12-6, and the Bulldogs fall to 4-11.
